About us
We are a family-owned book store in the city centre of Cologne, Germany. Our ancestor, Friedrich Tacke, became interested in and later on passionate about Iceland in the 1970´s. He became friends with people from Iceland studying in Cologne and he later travelled to Iceland a lot himself. Later on he joined the board of the German-Icelandic Association in Cologne. This passion was passed on to the following generations of the family and we are still strongly involved with the Asscoiation today.
What is closer to a bookseller's heart then dealing with books about something he loves? Friedrich made contact with Icelandic publishers and booksellers. Since then we have been importing books, hiking maps and road maps and much more from Iceland.
We also started to compile a catalogue of publications about Iceland in the German language, whether printed in Germany, Iceland or elsewhere. Our goal is to have all publications in German about Iceland catalogued. This is a huge and continuous labour of love. In this web shop you are able to access a large part of that catalogue without charge.
In the last few years we have also added some books in Icelandic and English to our catalogue. This way we want to make our expertise and knowledge of Icelandic publications available to a wider audience.
We also offer special services to libraries e.g. approval plans for our books on Iceland but also for the regular German market. So if you are a library, don´t hesitate to contact us. We're happy to help you choose the right titles for your collection.
About six times a year at on a non-regular basis we send a newsletter in German with information about new books to our customers.
Enjoy discovering our web shop and make sure you drop by the shop if you are in Cologne
